Tipping in the USA

In the United States, tipping is a normal custom. Servers work in the USA with the expectation to be tipped - it is a social contract. If you accept their service, you accept the terms of tipping.
In the USA, the federal minimum wage for adults is lower than the Australian minimum wage, so tipping for a service is the only way a wage can be increased.
It is advisable to keep lots of US$1 in your wallet for tipping purposes.
